Sanitas Mi Farmagen: discover how your body responds to medicines
New from Sanitas · A saliva sample you take at home analyses 29 genes and your response to more than 120 medicines. What it is, how to activate it and how to get it free.
Have you ever found that a medicine does nothing for you but works for someone else? Or that it suits you worse than other people? Part of the answer lies in your genes. This is what I explain to my clients about Mi Farmagen, the new Sanitas cover, checked against the company's official information.
What is Mi Farmagen?
It is a pharmacogenetics cover: the study of how your genes influence the way your body responds to medicines. With a saliva sample you take yourself at home, 29 genes and your response to more than 120 medicines are analysed.
What does the analysis tell you?
For each medicine analysed, the report shows how your body:
- absorbs it,
- metabolises it,
- how effective it may be for you,
- and your risk of side effects.
The results are stored in your private Mi Sanitas area for life, so they are useful today and for many years to come.
Important: always with your doctor
Mi Farmagen is not a diagnosis and does not replace medical judgement. The results are always interpreted by a doctor, and you should never change or stop a medication on your own. It is one more tool that gives your doctor more information when choosing your treatment.
How does it work?
- It is activated from your Mi Sanitas area, or I activate it for you when you sign up.
- You receive a text message to sign and order the kit, which is delivered to your home.
- You take the saliva sample yourself, with no needles.
- You check your results in Mi Sanitas.
How much does it cost? Free for new members (for a limited time)
It costs €89 until 31/12/2026 and €120 from 2027. But right now Sanitas is giving it away (€0) if you meet these conditions:
- You are an individual or self-employed and take out a new policy.
- You are a new member, over 18, and have not had a Sanitas policy in the previous 6 months.
- You sign up from 15/10/2026, with a start date between 01/11/2026 and 01/02/2027.
- You activate it within 2 months of the start date.
- Only for the first 20,000 activations.
It is included in policies such as Más Salud, Familias, Profesionales, Residents and Residents Para Visado, among others. It does not apply to switches from another Sanitas policy or to new members added to an existing policy.
My advice
